Become a Volunteer
Join the Healing Waves Family
Whether you are a born waterman/woman, have dedicated your life to helping others, or both. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities that will help us impact the lives of our incredible Athletes and their families.
Surf or Paddle Instructors
You must be an excellent surfer or paddle boarder, ideally with previous experience surfing with children and adults with unique needs or disabilities.
All water-based instructors must be pre-approved by our Directors and Officers. If you have not previously been a surf or paddle board instructor, please still apply.
Safety for ATHLETES
Water Safety is an in-water position, where you can expect to be in the water/surf, for the entire duration of a weekend event (approximately 4 hours).
This position typically requires you to have strong levels of surf and/or paddle board experience and hold a beach lifeguard qualification.
We seek those who are excellent swimmers with high endurance. Your responsibility is to assist surf Volunteers and Instructors and Athletes after entering the waves and provide a safe environment in the water.
You should be capable of treading water for a sustained period, swimming quickly, lifting and carrying a person, and capable of lifting an adult athlete back up onto a surfboard while in the water.
Creatives
Our creatives are made up of photographers, videographers, animators and ultimately story tellers who all understand the importance of our cause.
These individuals donate their time and talents by capturing life-changing memories for our Athletes and their families to treasure forever. Their passion also helps us to drive support, recognition and action in supporting HW.
